Obituary - Alpine Observer 9 Oct 1891
We regret to have to record the death of an old and well-known resident of the Bright district Mr William Waterhouse, of the Porepunkah Hotel, who breathed his last on Saturday morning. Mr Waterhouse had been in failing health for some months past, and a few weeks ago caught a server cold. Influenza confined Mr Waterhouse to his room early last week and bronchitis followed. His death, though rather sudden was not unexpected. The deceased leaves a widow and family of eleven children, most of whom are grown up, five being married. Mr Waterhouse was 49 years of age, and had resided in the district for nearly thirty years. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, a very large number of friends following the remains to the Bright Cemetery

Obituary - Alpine Observer 6 Aug 1907
A very sudden death occurred at Porepunkah Road, Bright, on Tuesday when Mrs M Waterhouse, and old and esteemed district resident, succumbed to heart failure, supervening on a buried but acute attack of pleurisy. Deceased, who had not been in the best of health for some time past, was present at the Bright-Porepunkah football match at Bright last Saturday and while there received a chill, which unfortunately developed into pleurisy, and this, in spite of the best medical advice and most devoted attention, ended fatally with most painful rapidity. Some years ago, deceased and her late husband Mr William Waterhouse conducted the Porepunkah Hotel, but of recent years she has lived privately at her residence, Porepunkah Road, She was 65 years of age and leave a family of seven sons and six daughters, most of whom are grown up, and for whom the deepest sympathy is expressed. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place at the Bright cemetery yesterday afternoon, the burial service of the Roman Catholic Church being read by the Rev J. F. Gaffey
